France - Val Thorens

Val Thorens was our first stop, we were there for 4 weeks. It was a fair old trip from London, as there was no bus service from Lyon airport to the resort until mid december. So two trains and two taxis later we arrived just after dark on 25th November.

Well, this is the worst picture ever but it just shows how sunny Val Thorens was. The view is from the front room/kitchen/balcony/my bedroom of our smallish flat overlooking the the run to the main Gondola. You can see how big the icicles are which have formed over the balcony.
There are quite a few wide pistes which are great for practicing linked turns or even your carving technique.
The obligatory picture of me part way up the mountain. This was at the top of the Cascade run. A nice easy run to get the legs going in the morning (plus its the closest chair lift from our flat!)
There were a couple of nice drops of snow while were out there, and finding powder to play in was not a problem.
View showing Val Thorens from one of the higher runs.
And did I mention to you all that it was very sunny over there? :)
